Demo Days in Morro Bay Jan 14 & 28 - Feb 11 & 25
Join current PKO members for a fun introduction to the sport of outrigger paddling! Our intro includes a brief safety training, paddle stroke demo and an outrigger canoe workout in beautiful Morro Bay!
Pale Kai is an adult athletic organization - 18+ years of age only
Space in the boats for these events is extremely limited
Pale Kai hosted a wonderful beach day in Avila featuring a mixed crew fun run course with 5 & 12 mile options. We invited some of our closest clubs to join for a fun time with some friendly racing. The start of the day had light fog conditions that kept the water very calm for the paddlers as they headed north of the breakwaters to Pecho Rock. The course took them by the Port San Luis light house with stunning views of the Central Coast that can only be seen from the water! Our fundraising committee hosted an incredible raffle with ample prizes and many of our guests walked away with great treasures donated by local businesses. The BBQ pork plate lunch sold out quick. We thank everyone who was able to participate in this wonderful day!

VANDENBURG OR BUST an Avila to Jalama adventure with CaliPaddler
As we came up on the beach outside the surf, it was so much mellower than the day before. Instead of crazy messy conditions, the peaks were consistent and easy to spot. Not to mention smaller. This day had become a picturesque sunny sky scene. With mellow 2-3' waves and a friend rocking his bright orange cap on the sand waving his arms to guide us to the right spot. Micah went first once we felt we had a good window between sets. He made it mostly in, but got his ama lifted on the inside and went for a minimal swim in the shallows. READ MORE...

Our 2022 Family and Friends Day came together with many of the most treasured PKO supporters! We took some time on the beach to show them the canoes and basic paddle technique. Everyone was given a seat role and Pale Kai members got to take these new paddlers out for a taste of outrigger paddling. The course took them around the piers in Avila...we think they now have a better understanding of how we like to spend so much of our time! Thank you to all involved!

The drizzle made all the lights sparkle and shine as we paddled our way around the downtown area of San Luis Obispo spreading good cheer and making spirits bright. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM PALE KAI!
