with thankfulness from our home to yours
(we love our new rental cottage)

Dear <<First Name>>

We Giving Thanks for You!
Thank you from Aberdeen!

We hope the Lord has met you in lovely ways this Thanksgiving!
We are SO thankful for all of you! The long-slow years of hard work are upon us. We are very thankful to have supporters who have our same long term vision, who read our newsletters, who remember and pray for us, and who support our work!

We would love to know how we can be praying for you, and giving thanks with you.

Finding Home

Our first few months in Aberdeen were cramped and lonely. Attempting to do homeschooling in a tiny house with one common room, and an even tinier back yard left us feeling exhausted and stressed out (our kids talk so much!) It was clear we needed to change something, and then the Lord dropped this house in our laps!
Above are some pics of our school and dining room. With windows all around and a big table its been the perfect place for our "Robbins Homeschool Academy" to spread its wings (and have elbow space).
We also celebrated Ruthie's 5th birthday with a small gathering of girls she's met and enjoyed here. The best part was that we had girls to invite over!  Now that she's 5, she's officially started reading lessons. So big. So cute.
We are finally feeling settled in Scotland. Lazzy is leading the charge getting cozy!

We are so exceedingly thankful for this new house. Our family feels more connected and Dan enjoys his 10 mile commute to school (time for audiobooks!)

Trip to Malawi

We are planning a trip to Malawi this Winter!
We have been emailing with the theology faculty of Nkhoma University, and with the General Secretary of the Nkhoma Synod of the Presbyterian Church in Malawi (Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian - CCAP). They have all been very excited to have us.

The process of us joining the seminary will involve various interviews with their Synod, and getting to know each other. However, as our Africa Area Supervisor said,

" African culture is face to face.  Emails only get a tiny bit done.  You have to show up."
"It is the wish of Nkhoma University to which we are now fully integrated as a faculty of Theology, that we must have expatriates for the sake of quality education. It was last week when we, as the staff at the faculty of Theology ... and the staff was just very pleased to have you as soon as you are ready to come." - Dean of Theology Faculty, Nkhoma
So we are planning on showing up, and spending some time getting to know the Synod and Seminary in a more official capacity. (It won't hurt to get some Sun too! Only 7 hours of sunlight these days in Aberdeen!)

Our total cost for this trip we are estimating to be around $6000 (tickets are about 1/3 the price they were from the US).

If you'd like to help us cover these costs, you could consider giving to us for this giving Tuesday. Bonus: Serge's Board Members have set up a matching campaign to benefit Serge's Missionary Care for every extra gift that comes in before December 7.

Glimpses of our Life

Here's a few glimpses of our adventures on the weekends. We've quite enjoyed exploring old castles, seeing where Harry Potter was filmed, and seeing graves of people who have significantly shaped us.
We also celebrated Bethany's birthday by sending her to stay for a few nights with our old friend who was presenting in Barcelona and had an extra room. (Flights within Europe are so cheap!) So much of the burden of the move has fallen to her in the daily grind with the kids. It was great to be able to give her a few days off for her birthday.
Here are some other shots including a visit to John Muir's birthplace, a visit with David and Rebecca Morton (the Malawi missionaries who first connected us with Malawi and set us on our trajectory), a visit with the old family friends the Jensens, and a pic Elijah took of Bethany and I.
We're 4 months down, and many more to go. Just weeks ago, that would have been overwhelming. But with the changes in home life, we're feeling much more encouraged about our time in Scotland. Thank you for those of you who have prayed with us and given us wisdom with regards to family life. We are so grateful for your love and care. We aren't eating turkey today (chicken), but we're still very thankful indeed!

P.S. Please remember to write to us about how YOU are doing, too!
